Dr. David Stark

Dr Stark is a highly experienced surgeon currently specialising in plastic surgery, with six years of NHS experience and five years in the aesthetics sector. He completed the UK Foundation Training Programme with rotations in anaesthetics, intensive care, acute medicine, and general surgery. Followed by completion of his UK Core Surgical Training Programme with focused rotations in vascular, breast, and plastic surgery. His surgical expertise is further supported by the successful completion of both Part A and Part B of the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons examination.

Dr Stark has a keen academic interest, having authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. His recent study, the Hypercoagulable State in COVID-19 and Implications for Free Flap Surgery in the Lower Limb: A Retrospective Multi-Centre Study has been published in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery and then submitted a manuscript for publication entitled One or Two Veins in Acute Lower Limb Reconstruction: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Venous Anastomotic Dilemma, reflecting his dedication to evidence-based practice. He was also awarded 1st prize for his research titled Beyond the Scalpel: Lymphedema Consideration in Breast Cancer Treatment at the Southwest Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Conference.

A regular contributor to both national and international surgical conferences, presenting his work at the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons Congress, Congress of the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery and the Evidence Based Peri-operative Medicine Congress. His academic contributions include multiple published chapters in texts including Communication Skills for Surgeons: A Contemporary Guide and the 50 Landmark Papers that Have Shaped Modern Breast Surgery.

Passionate about medical education, Dr Stark has established and led numerous teaching programmes, including an innovative On-Call Simulation Teaching Programme for Final Year Medical Students in England, Departmental Foundation Trainee Surgical Teaching and a Teaching Faculty Member at the Introduction to Plastic Surgery and Hand Trauma Course.
